Instructor's Guide
Fall and Spring Practica
During the fall and spring semesters, new instructors attend a
teaching practicum covering topics related to courses that are
currently being taught. Topics include
Designing Major and In-class Assignments
Rubrics and Grading
Classroom Management
Peer Reviews and Collaborative Writing
Syllabus Design
Methods of Teaching Composition
Teachers are encouraged to bring their experiences in the classroom
to the practicum. The general goal is to develop successful models of
teaching by sharing practical tools and strategies in a spirit of
collaboration.
The Fall Practicum meets for four two-hour sessions. The Spring
Practicum meets for three two-hour sessions.
